Beyond, a highly skilled industrial design studio based in Cambridge, approached us to collaborate on their new neurotech product, Sometimes. A device designed to improve mental wellbeing through gentle, non-invasive electrical stimulation.

Our task was to enhance the material realism of the product renders, with a particular emphasis on the fabric band. Working closely with the Beyond team, we layered custom textures which included diffuse, roughness, bump, displacement and fuzz mapping. This allowed us to build depth and character into every thread. Advanced subsurface scattering was applied to the fuzz fibres, giving the fabric a soft, light-catching quality.

The result is a warm and welcoming material expression that captures both the tactile nature of the physical product and the aesthetic Beyond envisioned.
